About Windows SmartScreen
When you download YieldWorks on Windows (if using Boot Camp or Parallels Desktop), Windows SmartScreen may display a warning. This is completely normal for independent software and does not indicate a security problem.
Why This Happens
SmartScreen shows warnings for unsigned applications. Code signing certificates are expensive (especially EV certs that bypass SmartScreen), and we prioritize reinvesting in product development over certificate costs. As our user base grows, we'll add code signing.
How to Verify Authenticity
- Check the file on VirusTotal: Upload the .exe to VirusTotal.com to scan with 70+ antivirus engines. All scans come back clean.
- Verify the SHA-256 hash: Compare the file's hash to the one posted on our website.
- Download only from yieldworks.co: Always get YieldWorks from our official site, not from third-party sources.
How to Bypass the Warning
- When the SmartScreen warning appears, click "More info"
- Click "Run anyway" to proceed with installation
- Complete the installation normally
SmartScreen will remember your choice and won't warn you again for future YieldWorks downloads.
